I was born on my parents’ dairy farm 20 km southeast of Edmonton in Strathcona County.  When my parents retired, I bought 80 acres of the homestead and moved into the old family home.  Returning to the farm life has complemented my career as a chartered accountant.  It gives me invaluable insight when I talk to clients about such issues tax planning for agribusiness.

Before starting my purebred operation, I maintained a commercial herd for fourteen years.  In 2002 I purchased my first purebred females including KUP9M at Northern Select. I AI’d them right away and my purebred herd was begun.  I continued to acquire select purebreds (primarily Fischer and Breton Red Angus)  over the next few years while maintaining my commercial herd. In January 2006, I sold my entire commercial herd to one buyer and committed to developing my purebred operation.  My philosophy was and continues to be:  I will only sell bulls that I would buy. That means that if they don’t qualify for AI service they are culled from my herd.

My farm hands have been my Border Collies.  Charlie, whom I have had for 6 years is my primary working dog and is devoted to her work. I recently acquired Dee Jay who shows great promise.  My Border  Collies easily replace the work of four men and routinely amaze me with their herding abilities.
